Banking Takes to the Tablet
A recent study by Javelin Strategy and Research has cited Citigroup (Citi), Bank of America (BoA) and USAA as the having the best banking apps for the tablet. A majority of tablet owners are affluent, earning over $100,000 a year, aged between 25 and 44 and likely to have a wide range of investment and banking products. Citi, BoA and USAA have all proved to be proficient at targeting this clientele.

A majority of banks do have iPad apps, but only 20% have ones which are specifically dedicated to iPad, Android and Kindle Fire platforms. Tablet owners are significant participants in the mobile banking field, with 24% of tablet owners conducting banking on a mobile device in the last seven days compared to 11% of non-tablet owners. Promising news for all tablet app developers is that tablet adoption is set to rise to 40% in 2016-an impressive statistic considering the figure was just 8% in 2011.
